simplyaskit meets Mortgage Broker Umit Talarico from Premier Lending
How long have you been a mortgage broker, and where is your business located?
I have been in the finance industry for twelve years and a mortgage broker for nine years. I am based in Concord, Inner West Sydney.
Name of the business?
What do you love about being a finance broker?
I love being a Mortgage Broker because I get to meet some wonderful people and help them achieve their dreams, whether it is buying their first home or investing in property. Consolidating debt and helping clients out during tough times is also a very rewarding experience.
Is there a particular type of finance you specialise in?
I specialise mainly in residential home loans, but also provide commercial and personal loans, as well as car finance.
What is the property market like in your region?
Inner West house prices have shot up roughly $1 million over the last ten years, making the region Australia’s most consistent real estate market for price increases.
Being halfway between the CBD and Parramatta, Sydney’s two biggest employment centres, the Inner West has outperformed the rest of Sydney.
Are there any particular suburbs or property types you feel represent growth opportunities in your region?
There are numerous suburbs in the Inner West with massive growth and rental yield like Bexley, Turella, Campsie, and Canterbury, to name a few.
In Canterbury, median house prices have gone up from $810,000 in 2013 to $1,270,000 and are continuing to grow.
In Campsie, currently the median sales price of houses in the area is $1,460,000 having gone up from $810,000 in 2013.
What’s the one aspect of a loan all borrowers should be aware of?
I find that a lot of buyers, especially first home-buyers, are not sure about what the banks’ minimum deposit requirements are and they often don’t take other expenses like Stamp Duty in consideration either.
Favourite hobbies?
