How RentersCard is revolutionising the rental market.

RentersCard is a rental portal and mobile app that aims to make it easier for property searchers to secure a place to rent by pre-verifying their application and saving agents time.
The app & portal can be used worldwide, but is currently only available for people searching for property in Australia.
The platform was developed to provide a 'stress free' application process and moving experience that revolutionises the rental industry to benefit both renters and agents.
Renters can get the app for free and use it to create their own universal profile, sending unlimited universal property applications to whomever they want.
Founder and CEO of RentersCard, Ashley Hoey, said the rental application process hasn’t changed in a very long time, but RentersCard was set to change that.
“You spend hours searching for the property you want, collecting all your identity (100 Points of ID) documents, obtaining your employment payslips or guarantor details, compiling your references, only to call the property manager and find out that the place you were hoping for was rented out to someone else,” Hoey said.
RentersCard claims it is the first online rental application service that allows renters to get pre-verified.
“Property managers are already extremely time poor, so if you are able to do something to help make their jobs easier, of course they will take notice,” Hoey said.
Adopted by agencies
Queensland’s Head of Residential Management for agency Jones Lang Lasalle, Tina Grey, said that RentersCard has brought a fresh approach to the time consuming process of checking rental applications.
“Rental applicants who have already completed their profile and pre-verified themselves are favoured across all of our offices,” Grey said.
“We handle so many calls and have inspections daily to attend to, so using the RentersCard mobile app has helped us streamline our processes and has improved our customer experience.”
“Each applicant that contacts us is being asked to apply through the RentersCard website and at every inspection, we are capturing the applicant's contact details through the mobile app which helps us re-engage our customer base more efficiently.”
Using data to speed up the process
The platform’s verification and profiling technology extracts rich data from thousands of sources in real-time including an identity check, tenancy check and a financial capacity check as the main ones that a property manager requires before they can approve an application.
The app also accesses private, public and government sources including the Australian Attorney General’s Department, who provide RentersCard access to their systems so that they can verify any government issued document in real-time to prevent fraud.
Hoey said from signup to approval, the fastest time in which a property has been approved was less than 48 hours.
“We are hoping to see this number get down to less than 24 hours and eventually within the hour. Time is a precious commodity and that is our goal,” Hoey said.
“I believe we’ve built a system that has set the foundation for a mass market of rentals. We can do everything online now with the technology available to us.”
