We had a plumber come out and he fixed the issue in one hour. He gave us the invoice and it included a $90 service call and $100 for the one hour of work. Doesn’t the service call fee cover at least the first 30 min or so work?

Basically, they can charge whatever they like. There is not any legal standing that requires them to cover the first 30 minutes. ;(

I would suggest when engaging any tradie always check the call out and the hourly rate.
