Hi, I'm about to start a business that will involve professional consulting services to international companies. I am an Australian citizen and therefore wondering when invoicing how would I treat GST?

Hi Peter,
Generally the services attract GST if the recipient is in Australia, has offices in Australia or the service is in relation to property in Australia.

It really depends on what each transaction involves. If they are coming to you or have offices here GST is probably payable. If you travel or interact with them in their own country it is likely that GST is not payable.

You can check the ATO website or check with your accountant or adviser for specific case details or for general guidance.

Hope this helps
Cheers
Scott

I agree with Scott's comment. Very good and sound advice. I would have said something very similar.
