As the importance of company culture is widely recognised for not only financial success, but also staff retention, job satisfaction, and productivity within the business, I’m wondering, what strategies have others found effective in building and promoting a positive and high-spirited team culture?

Hi Camille,

Treat people the same way you like others to treat you and you wont go wrong,
Positive attitude, valuing their contribution, respect, clear goals, give them ownership of the various projects.
Hope that help.

regards

Hi Camille

The first thing would be to make sure that they are paid well. Other strategies/policies/practices to follow:
1. Being open about what is happening in a business (including financial numbers) and getting rid of "need to know basis" system. This will ensure everyone is on the same page.
2. Have a good financial bonus system. Set a financial target of say $250k in profits and once that is reached then out of the excess say 15% of profits are distributed amongt the team.
3. Have genuine appreciation of what the employees do

Hi, I recently started a Sydney based startup, and I wholeheartedly agree that company culture is vital for successful growth. My strategy is, on the one hand, empower people with responsibilities and accountability, while on the other making sure that it is a fun place to work. We will not hire people that we don't feel will fit in culturally.

Hi Camille
Check out the Announcer Group on linkedin and our CEO Andrew Rocks.
We have a culture which promotes health and wellbeing along with a strong team work and hardworking ethos.
The platform of remuneration is scalable and allows performance to reflect the outcome.
I think it as a personal thing and our culture might not be for everyone but I enjoy what we have and have alot of fun at the office.
Good luck
Chris

Hi Camille,

Good culture and morale is crucial for the success of any business. This is built a few ways I believe:

1. By empowering your team as a leader
2. Listen to your team members and allowing for their voice to be heard so that their opinions are valued too.
3. Finding out what is important to your staff / team members. If you can build a business that has a focus on taking your staff values into consideration then you build a culture where people are willing to support each other, collaborate and feel empowered. Every person motivation is different.

It can be hard to build but when you get the formula right, the business flows like magic and it makes you enjoy the business all the better.

Good Luck and Enjoy!

Richard branson is a ding bat of the first water.......but he values his team more than his clients.
Be like that
My old boss was more than happy to hurl an employee under the bus when something went wrong and a client was not happy.
Dont be like that!!!!!

I have always strived to back my staff 100%......and i ALWAYS take the heat when something isnt right.... and then we ALL sit down and fix whatever the problem was.......
Look after your team and they will look after your clients and happy clients dont leave
